About Hudsult

Aarhus-based Hudsult wants to see you mosh as much as they want to see you cry — and they bring the soundtrack for both. Drawing from screamo, post-hardcore, and everything in between, the band crafts emotionally charged music that is as vulnerable as it is intense. The current lineup features Rasmus Rohde (he/him) on drums, Diba Khalaj (she/they) on bass, Gry Steensig (she/her) on vocals, and Aleksander Wolter (he/him) on guitar.

While all members have a background in leftist activism and remain politically conscious, Hudsult chose to focus their music more on personal, introspective themes—often inherently political when viewed through the lens of marginalized identities. At its core, the band aims to challenge the overwhelmingly white, cis male-dominated hardcore scene in Denmark. They want to create a space where heavy music also embraces care, difference, and emotional expression. Musically, Hudsult balances chaos and melody, aggression and sensitivity.

They cite influences ranging from Deafheaven, foxtails, I Hate Sex, and City of Caterpillar to Envy, Oathbreaker, My Bloody Valentine, Deftones, Hüsker Dü, and Dinosaur Jr. Danish bands like Regarding Ambiguity and Puke Wolf have also shaped their sound. Despite their relatively recent start, Hudsult has gained attention through grassroots efforts, social media, DIY merch, and the support of the Aarhus underground music community. For them, being a band means being friends first: communication, shared responsibilities, and mutual support are all key to how they function — and to the emotional depth of their music. Hudsult has no grand ambitions of stardom, but dreams of playing shows abroad (Sweden, perhaps), collaborating with like-minded bands, and continuing to grow their project organically.

EP "Tit er jeg glad..."

"Det kan godt være, vi ikke har det godt i Danmark – det tyder noget på, ud fra disse to bands(Hudsult og Demersal) at dømme – men musikken står strålende. 5/6" - Selvtægt, Review

"Musically, Tit Er Jeg Glad… fuses influences from bands like Oathbreaker, Svalbard, and City of Caterpillar, alongside Danish acts such as Puke Wolf and Vægtløs. The EP’s sound ranges from hardcore fury to black metal intensity, with screamo’s emotional vulnerability woven throughout." - IDIOTEQ, premiere
